Young Maltese man breaks World Record for Longest Distance Ocean Swim

Maltese ultra-endurance swimmer, Neil Agius has broken the World Record for the Longest Ocean Swim. Agius took around 50 hours to swim a total of 125km from the island of Linosa to Malta beating the previous record held by Britain’s Chloe McCardel of 124.4km.

The ex-Olympian arrived at 10pm in Gozo to a cheering crowd of supporters . 

Neil Agius had swum from Sicily to Malta last year however, he proved that he has greater capabilities overcoming obstacles such as injuries, bad weather and mental challenges; yet he went on to break the World Record.

Neil Agius also raised awareness for his Wave of Change initiative, where he asked his supporters to each gather at least six pieces of plastic from the sea.
