Saturday 22nd June – Base Malta hosted a remarkable cultural and historic event in Shanghai, in collaboration with Heritage Malta, Arts Council Malta , and Taste History The event also received support from Malta Food Agency and the Consulate General of Malta in Shanghai
The opening session featured a unique cultural exchange, where the Executive Chairman of the Arts Council, Mr. Albert Marshall, recited Maltese poems, which were then passionately rendered in Chinese by Master of Chinese Literature, Mr. Yin Shuai Bo. The poems are part of a collection of six published in Sitt Fanali Cinizi by Mr. Marshall himself.
The venue was beautifully decorated with replicas of art from the Malta Maritime Museum, creating an immersive experience for attendees. Taste History delighted guests with an extensive array of historic foods, including aged pork neck, goat cheese, and flatbread with grapes, all prepared according to 16th-century recipes from the records of the Knights of Malta.
This event aimed to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Malta, foster a deeper appreciation for its history among the Chinese community, and attract high-budget cultural tourism to Malta.
